Just You, Just Me is an intimate studio session that certifies the seventy-four-year-old lyrical pianist is in fine form and still reigns supreme over his polytonal, polyrhythmic playing style that changed the face of jazz in the 1950s.

Brubeck sat down at the piano and spontaneously recorded -- each in one take -- eight reflective and gracefully melodic standards from the 1930s and 1940s, as well as four poignant originals, which he imprints with his trademark riffs and shifting time signatures. Heard for the first time anywhere is "Newport Waltz," written in 1991 following his performance at the Newport Jazz Festival. This album is destined to become a jazz classic.

It had been nearly 40 years since Dave Brubeck's last solo piano recording when he recorded this relaxed set. Brubeck sounds typically creative yet often wistful on the seven standards, four originals, and a "Tribute to Stephen Foster." This is a fine addition to Brubeck's extensive yet consistently satisfying discography.
