Family
As the 1970’s unfolded, the musical careers of three of Dave’s sons, Darius, Chris and Danny began to emerge. From 1974 to 1978, they toured and produced albums together under “Two Generations Of Brubeck” initially and then “The New Brubeck Quartet”. Darius played on a variety of electronic keyboards, Chris on electric bass and bass trombone and Danny on drums.
Chris stayed with Dave for the majority of the 1980’s and 1990’s, touring and recording albums.
The three sons got together occasionally for further albums, and were joined by Matthew on cello on recordings, “Quiet As The Moon”, “In Their Own Sweet Way” and “Live With The LSO”.
It was one of the highlights of Dave's career that he got to work and perform with his family. He was so proud of their own individaul acheivements. The greatest moment of pride was in 2009, when unbeknownst to Dave, Darius, Danny, Chris and Matthew got together to perform at the Kennedy Center Awards, as a tribute to a father they adored.
